Welcome to the Ukrainian Genealogy Search Mail List site

The Ukrainian Genealogy Search mail list, hosted on Rootsweb, is intended for anyone researching their Ukrainian roots.  If your family research traces to Ukraine then you will want to join this list.

I encourage people who have queries regarding their Ukrainian roots, information and resources to share, or basically have an interest in Ukrainian genealogy to join this list.

How this site works

The site is broken down into different areas.  The following are basic explanations for each of those different areas:

Subscribe

Click on the link at the left named Subscribe and you will be taken to the page where you can read the instructions on how to subscribe to this mail list.  Additionally, on that page are the rules pertaining to the list.  All members who join are expected to adhere to those rules.  Continually violating the rules will result in you being placed on the List's Reject File, where you are essentially barred from joining or participating.

Here you will find links that are involved in Ukrainian genealogical research. Currently, there are no plans to categorize these links.  However, as they grow this may change.  If you wish to add your site's URL to this page, there are instructions as to how to do so.  The only requirement is that the site you are submitting be Ukrainian genealogy related and you provide a reciprocal link from your web site.

Photo Album

Ukrainian Genealogy Search also provides a place where you can submit scanned pictures or letters that you need help with.  Because I am trying to keep the size of the mailings to a minimum, images take up a lot of space in e-mail, cause delays in downloading those messages, and tend to bog down mail servers (1 100k image sent to the list will cause the image to be e-mailed to all the list members...a 100 member list will cause the mail server to send out 1mb in size), and many of the members may not want to receive attachments in their e-mail.  So, clicking on this link at the left will take you to the album page where you will find images that have been submitted and displayed.   The members on the list will be notified of the link where they can view the image(s).
